Marble Murtis for Temples and Mandir Projects

Swarnim Arts carves marble murtis for temple trusts, mandir committees, architects and developers, from a single presiding deity to a full set for a new temple. Share your sanctum measurements and requirements, and we will reply with what is possible and a written quotation.

Why temples work with us

Temple murtis from a Jaipur workshop

  • More than 25 years in Jaipur

Swarnim Arts has been making marble murtis in Jaipur for more than 25 years, for families, temple trusts and businesses in India and abroad.

  • Murtis in temples across India

Our murtis stand in the Chhatarpur Mandir in Delhi, in a Shani mandir and in many Jain mandirs.

  • Carved entirely by hand

Every murti is carved entirely by hand by our artisans in Jaipur.

  • Any size

We carve murtis to the height your sanctum needs, from a side-shrine murti to a large presiding deity, in a single piece or as a matching set.

  • Choice of stone

We work in Makrana marble, Vietnam marble, Jhiri marble and black stone, as well as other stones to suit each order.

  • Export packing by our own team

Our own packing team packs every murti to industrial export packing standards, chosen for the size, weight and delicacy of each piece.

Our larger pieces

The largest murtis we have photographed are shown first. Temple murtis are usually carved to order, at the height your sanctum and pedestal need.

How a temple commission works

From the first enquiry to delivery

Most temple commissions follow the same steps. Your committee can take part at each stage, and a free video call on Zoom or Google Meet is available whenever it helps.
  1. Share your requirements

The deities, the number of murtis, their heights, the sanctum and pedestal dimensions, your tradition and the date of the pran pratishtha, if one is set.

  2. Drawings and references

Send drawings, photographs of the sanctum and reference images. If new murtis will stand beside existing ones, send photographs and measurements of those too.

  3. Video calls with your committee

We talk the requirements through with your trustees, priests or architect on Zoom or Google Meet, so everyone agrees the details before carving begins.

  4. Written quotation

You receive a written quotation that can be shared with trustees. The timeline is estimated once we know the deity, height, posture and finish.

  5. Staged payment

Payment is made in stages as the murtis take shape, and the order is fully settled before dispatch. For larger projects we can agree a schedule that suits your committee.

  6. Carving by hand

Our artisans carve each murti entirely by hand in our Jaipur workshop, to the agreed specification.

  7. Export packing

Our own packing team packs each murti for the journey, according to its size, weight and delicacy.

  8. Shipping to your temple

We ship to temples in India and abroad. Shipping is quoted separately, and import rules in your country also apply.

For architects and developers

Working with architects, sthapatis and turnkey developers

If you are designing or building a temple for a client, we can supply the murtis as part of your project. For Jain projects, see marble pratimas for Jain derasars.
  • We work from your drawings

Send the sanctum elevations, pedestal details, murti heights and any iconography notes from the temple's priests or acharya. We carve to your drawings and specifications.

  • One point of contact

One person at Swarnim Arts is your contact for the whole project, from the first drawing to dispatch.

  • Video calls for your client

We can join a call on Zoom or Google Meet with your committee or client to review the specification, so decisions are made together.

What temple committees usually need

  • Murtis sized to the sanctum, the pedestal and the distance from which devotees will see them.
  • Several murtis carved to match in style, proportion and finish.
  • Iconography that follows the guidance of the temple's priests or tradition.
  • A written specification and quotation that can be shared with trustees or a committee.

Information to send with your enquiry

The more detail you share at the start, the more useful our reply can be. Helpful information includes the sanctum's internal dimensions, photographs or drawings of the space, the pedestal height, the number of murtis and their relative sizes, any reference images, and the date of the pran pratishtha or inauguration if one has been set.

Iconography and tradition

Temples often follow specific traditions for posture, mudras, ornaments and attributes. We recommend agreeing these details with your priests before carving begins, and recording them in the specification so there is no ambiguity later.

If a new murti will stand beside existing ones, send photographs and measurements of the existing murtis. This helps us match scale, style and finish as closely as natural stone allows.

Planning, installation and shipping

Temple murtis are usually larger and heavier than home murtis. Plan how each murti will reach the sanctum and be placed on its pedestal, and check floor loading where needed. For temples outside India, allow for freight and customs clearance in the timeline. Delivery estimates depend on destination and shipping method, and we confirm them in your quotation.

FAQ

Common questions

Can we order a matching set of murtis for our temple?

Yes. Tell us how many murtis you need, their relative heights and the sanctum dimensions, with any reference images. We plan the murtis together so that style, proportion and finish match as closely as natural stone allows.

What sizes can you carve?

We carve murtis in any size, to the height your sanctum and pedestal need. Large murtis need planning for floor loading, access and freight, so share the dimensions of the space when you enquire.

Can you work from our architect's or sthapati's drawings?

Yes. Send the drawings and specifications with your enquiry. We carve to them, and we can join a video call with your architect, priests or committee to go through the details.

Who decides the iconography of a temple murti?

Usually the temple's priests or committee, following their tradition. We recommend confirming posture, attributes and ornaments in writing before carving begins.

How long does a temple murti take?

It depends on the murti. We estimate the time once we know the deity, height, posture and finish, and confirm it in the written quotation. If you are working towards a pran pratishtha or inauguration date, tell us when you first enquire.

How are payments staged for a temple order?

For made-to-order murtis you pay in three stages as your murti takes shape: 50% advance to begin the work, 25% once carving is complete and before packing, and the remaining 25% before dispatch, so the order is fully settled before it ships. For larger temple projects we are happy to talk through a schedule that suits your committee.

Can a temple outside India order from Swarnim Arts?

Yes. We ship worldwide, and our own packing team packs every murti to export standards. Shipping is quoted separately, and import rules in your country also apply. Our international shipping page explains how it works.
