Where small murtis work well

  • Wall-mounted and cabinet mandirs in apartments, where depth is often limited.
  • A shelf or niche in a living room, kitchen or study.
  • Office desks and reception areas, where a small Ganesh or Lakshmi is a common choice.
  • Gifts for a griha pravesh, wedding, birthday or festival.
  • Travel mandirs and student rooms, where a light, compact murti is easier to move.

Choosing the right height

Measure the internal height of the space and leave a gap above the murti's crown, so it does not look cramped and you can clean around it. Check the depth as well: a seated murti with a wide base can be deeper than you expect. If the murti will sit beside others in the same mandir, it helps to keep the main deity slightly larger or on a raised step.

Detail at a small scale

Carving fine features such as eyes, fingers and ornaments is harder at a small scale, so small murtis are worth examining closely. Ask for close-up photographs of the face and hands before you decide. Natural marble also shows its veining more noticeably on a small piece, and no two are identical.

Pairs and small groups

Small murtis are often chosen in pairs or small groups, such as Ganesh and Lakshmi for Diwali puja. If you are buying more than one, choose similar heights and styles so they look balanced side by side, or ask us whether a matching pair can be made.

Shipping small murtis

Small murtis are the easiest to send abroad, as they can usually travel by courier rather than freight. They still need careful packing, because marble can chip if it is knocked. Delivery estimates depend on destination and shipping method, and we confirm them in your quotation.
