Marble Murtis for Customers in Australia

Swarnim Arts makes marble murtis for homes, mandirs and community groups in Australia. Australia's biosecurity rules are among the strictest anywhere, so this page focuses on packaging, inspection and what to expect when your murti arrives.

How it works

Ordering from Australia

The same clear steps apply whether you choose an available piece or commission a custom murti.
  1. Enquire

Tell us the murti you like or the deity, size and finish you need, and your city.

  2. Quotation

We send a written quotation with the murti, packing and shipping to Australia shown separately.

  3. Confirm and produce

Once you confirm, the murti is prepared or made, then checked before packing.

  4. Pack and ship

The murti is packed to protect the carving and shipped to your address.

Biosecurity: why packaging matters

Marble itself is stone, but the materials used to pack it can raise biosecurity concerns. Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry sets biosecurity import conditions, and the Australian Border Force manages the border. Timber packaging such as crates and pallets must meet Australian requirements. Timber treated and marked under the international ISPM 15 standard is generally accepted, but shipments can still be inspected, and packaging that does not comply may need treatment, re-export or destruction at the importer's cost.

Natural packing materials, such as straw, hay or untreated plant fibre, are closely scrutinised and may be inspected, treated or refused. Foam and other manufactured materials avoid this concern. If a shipment is held for inspection, fees may apply and delivery can be delayed.

If you would like anything sent with the murti, such as a wooden stand, sandalwood, dried flowers, seeds or other puja items, please tell us before it is packed. Many plant-based and wooden items are subject to Australian import conditions and may be held, treated or destroyed, which can delay the whole shipment.

If your shipment is selected for inspection, the carrier or customs broker will usually contact you. Replying promptly and keeping your phone number up to date helps clearance move as quickly as possible.

Customs and GST

Imported goods may be subject to customs duty and GST, depending on the goods, their value and how they arrive. Thresholds and the way GST is collected on lower-value goods are set by the Australian Government and can change, so we do not quote figures here. The Australian Border Force website explains how importing works, and a customs broker can help with larger freight shipments.

Choosing a size and measuring

Australia uses metric measurements, while murti heights in India are usually quoted in inches. We can give dimensions in centimetres and inches, and weights in kilograms. Measure the internal height, width and depth of your mandir, and check that any cabinet or stand can carry the weight of solid marble.

Shipping distance and delivery

Deliveries to capital cities are usually more straightforward than to regional or remote areas, where freight may be transferred between carriers. Larger murtis may travel by sea or air freight, and final delivery is often by appointment. Tell us about steps, narrow access or long driveways when you enquire.

Delivery estimates depend on your city or region, the size of the murti, the shipping method and any biosecurity inspection, and we confirm them in your quotation.

Festivals, occasions and community orders

Diwali, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami are celebrated by families and community groups across Australia, and festival dates move each year. With production time, a long shipping route and the possibility of a biosecurity inspection, it is wise to allow a generous margin. Mandirs and cultural associations planning an installation or pran pratishtha should share their date and sanctum measurements early.

Quotations and currency

Each international quotation lists the murti, packing and shipping separately so that you can see the full cost before you decide.

FAQ

Questions from customers in Australia

Will my murti's packaging be inspected by Australian biosecurity?

It may be. Timber crates and pallets must meet Australian requirements, and natural packing materials such as straw are closely checked. Inspection can add time and fees, which is why packaging for Australia needs particular care.

What is ISPM 15?

ISPM 15 is an international standard for wooden packaging used in trade. Timber is heat treated or otherwise treated to kill pests and then stamped with a recognised mark. Australia generally accepts compliant packaging but may still inspect it.

Is GST charged on a marble murti imported into Australia?

GST and sometimes customs duty can apply to imported goods, depending on their value and how they are imported. The rules are set by the Australian Government and can change, so check the Australian Border Force website for current guidance.

Can you deliver to regional Australia?

Tell us your full delivery location when you enquire. Regional and remote deliveries can involve extra handling and time, and we will confirm the arrangements in your quotation.
